Art
The goal of the Art Program at Heritage Academy is to help children grow creatively, aesthetically, socially, emotionally, physically, and
educationally through exposure to a variety of media, techniques, and processes.

Students will also gain an understanding and appreciation for the visual arts in relation to other curriculum areas.
Students are also introduced to art history/art appreciation through famous artists and works of art.
The art program is sequential for grades K-8. Seven basic art areas have been identified. They are:
· Drawing
· Painting
· Two-Dimensional Design and Collage
· Three-Dimensional Design
· Printmaking
· Crafts
· Art History/Art Appreciation
These seven art areas coincide with one another. In each, the student will gain knowledge and skills in the use of the basic vocabularies, materials, tools, and techniques. The art areas introduce and reinforce the Elements and Principles of Design.
The Heritage Academy Art curriculum is aligned with the Massachusetts Arts Curriculum Frameworks and the National Standards for Arts Education.
