Heritage Academy

successful candidate:
Excellence in Academics:
The Principal provides educational leadership and vision for continued
development of an integrated curriculum reflecting high academic standards and
the implementation of best practice methodologies. He/she ensures that the most
effective curricula available are selected and implemented in all subjects;
collaborates with other key administrators to ensure a consistent, innovative,
and inspiring educational experience based on measurable outcomes. He/she
develops support for the classroom teachers of students with special learning
needs.
Culture, Collaboration and Communication: The Principal promotes
throughout the community the culture, values and educational philosophy of Heritage Academy; motivates students to realize
their fullest potential academically, socially and emotionally; and
communicates effectively to families and community, balancing the community’s
desire for transparency with the right of constituents to confidentiality. He/she will increase the public awareness of
the school and of the value of a Heritage
Academy education.
Administration and Staff Development: The Principal works closely
with the Board members, faculty and staff to ensure that all aspects of
day-to-day operations of the school run smoothly; oversees routine financial
operations including, but not limited to, collecting tuition and paying bills; and
maintains the school’s financial integrity.
The Principal serves as a liaison between the Board and the broader
Heritage community. The Principal
implements school personnel policies; supervises and evaluates all Heritage
employees; mentors teachers and staff, and provides opportunities for their
continuing professional development, morale and competency.

Interpersonal warmth,
empathy and diplomacy
Appreciation of children and adolescents
Broad knowledge of K-8 curriculum
Cultural literacy (Jewish knowledge)
Experience and Credentials
Senior leadership experience (3-5 years) and proven ability to lead in
education or a related field.
Experience with mixed age classrooms.
Preferred: Advanced degree in an educational field.
Longmeadow, Massachusetts is a residential community located on the
southern edge of the Connecticut River’s Pioneer Valley. It is conveniently located 30 minutes from
Hartford, less than 2 hours from Boston, and 2 ½ hours from New York City.
