LETTER FROM DR. STARR

Heritage Academy is a special place. Just walk our halls. You will hear giggles coming from the kindergarten. You will relish the bright, clear singing of first grade children as they start their morning.  Peek into the second grade classrooms; students are performing plays in Hebrew, baking challah and hatching chicks in incubators.  Our third graders have reading buddies with fourth graders, and explore life on a kibbutz.  Fourth graders build Native American totem poles, and relive the events of Mt. Sinai.   Our fifth graders are entrepreneurs, and can read Rashi.  Middle school students build bridges, make videos, research Talmud, reenact the Constitutional Convention, speak Hebrew, and do weekly laboratory work in our science lab.  Art music, physical education, computer technology, and weekly visits to our library, enrich the curriculum.

Our students are participants not just receivers, in their own learning.  We build on their natural abilities by enriching their environment with manipulatives, audio and visual aides, technology, differentiated curriculum projects, portfolios, and field trips.  We tap into the child's natural curiosity and thirst for knowledge. Have you met our students?  They delight in being here.  They know one another.  They care about each other, and we care about them .  We monitor their growth intellectually, emotionally, socially, physically, and because we are a Jewish Community Day School -- spiritually.  We are a unique place.  We have much to offer and room to grow.  Come join us!
