LIFE SKILLS
Practice life skills at home. They should include: shoe tying, buttoning, zipping, snapping, and pulling sweater/ jacket/coat sleeves right side out. Colder weather is approaching quickly. In preparation for this weather give your child opportunities to dress him/herself with outer gear that includes: snowpants, boots, jackets, hats, mittens/gloves.
How about turning it into a game? Once your young one can do it on a regular basis add a twist: “How fast can you dress yourself?” Perhaps there could be a little reward for doing so. This will be particularly helpful at recess time.
We continue to practice good hygiene including: toiletting, sneezing, coughing, blowing noses (and other nose things), and keeping fingers out of mouths. Help us stay as healthy as we can by practicing at home.
Finally, does your Kindergartner know his/her phone number and complete address? After learning about safety and practicing dialing 911 it helps reinforce what was taught in school.
